Jourdan Bartels, MA LPC
(She/Her)
Therapist

For me, healing emerges from the relationships we build - with others, and with ourselves. In my practice, my primary goal is to foster genuine connections with clients and provide a transformative, empowering, and reparative experience. Clients can expect lots of compassion from me and some playfulness, too. As a queer therapist, I know the value of humor and light-heartedness amidst challenges, paired with a dedication to holding compassion alongside you and creating change. Therapy with me is a collaboration: clients bring their expertise on their life and experience, and I bring my expertise on therapeutic tools and mental health knowledge.

My clinical background and passions revolve around supporting the LGBTQIA+ community, navigating relationship dynamics and changes, nurturing self-compassion, and tackling feelings of shame. I work primarily using relational-cultural therapy, interpersonal process, interpersonal neurobiology (IPNB), and Internal Family Systems (IFS). At the heart of my approach is a holistic focus - our work will include your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, *and* how your body and nervous system are involved, the role that systems and environments play in your mental health, and how various parts of your life have informed your current experience.

I see my clients as whole, complex individuals, deserving of a safe space to find clarity, receive support, and explore new ways of being and interacting with the world. I understand that trust is earned, and that process takes time – my hope is that, by creating shared safety and trust, my clients don’t have to guess if I will affirm their identity, believe their stories of abuse or oppression, or otherwise support them. Whether it’s navigating relationship difficulties, life transitions, identity exploration, or mental health symptoms like anxiety and depression, we can work together to find what works for you to integrate more helpful and authentic ways of being.

Every facet of you holds worth, value, and the right to care and understanding. Each of us already have incredible inner wisdom, and I would be honored to work with you as you rediscover and reconnect to your own.

Outside of therapy, I love to cook, read, gently and lovingly move my body, hangout with my sweet pup Birdie, be in nature (especially on the river!), and spend time with my beautiful community.

Four words that describe me: passionate, warm, grounded, playful
