Coming consistently to group therapy is crucial for both you and the other group members. Just like being part of a team - when someone doesn’t attend, it affects everyone's experience. Here's why your attendance matters…
For your own growth:
You build trust gradually with the group, which helps you feel safer sharing
You get to see patterns in your relationships develop over time
Missing sessions means missing important moments in your own therapy journey
Regular attendance helps you maintain momentum in your personal growth
For other group members:
They come to rely on your perspective and support
Your absence can make others hesitate to share if they were counting on your input
The group dynamic changes when members are missing
Others may worry about you when you're not there
For the group as a whole:
Each session builds on previous ones
The group needs consistency to develop trust and safety
Irregular attendance can disrupt the flow of therapy
Strong attendance helps create a stable, predictable environment where everyone can do their best work
-
In order to maintain the integrity, consistency, and therapeutic benefit of group therapy, clients are required to commit to attending all eight (8) consecutive weeks of group therapy upon enrollment with the exception of illness, holidays, and unexpected or emergency events.
Due to the limited number of spots available and the presence of a waitlist, clients are asked to honor their commitment to the full eight-week cycle. When you reserve a place in the group, that spot becomes unavailable to others who may be waiting for care. For this reason, clients will also be responsible for payment of all eight group therapy sessions, regardless of attendance.
Understandably, unexpected circumstances may arise. Unfortunately, absences do not reduce the operational costs of running the group, nor can missed sessions be transferred, refunded, or rescheduled unless agreed upon by the group facilitator.
-
To encourage group attendance, you are required to commit to paying for all 8 sessions, even if you can’t make it.
If you do need to miss a session, please:
Let the group facilitator know at least 24-hours in advance
Share with the group that you'll be away
Process any feelings that came up about missing the session when you return
If you decide you would like to leave the group altogether (terminate), you must…
Let the group facilitator know 2-weeks in advance
Reflect on the growth you have made & process your transition out of the group
Allow other members to process any feelings that come up about your termination
Please be mindful, should you decide to terminate, you are still required to pay for all eight sessions.
